113.4

Today was Stockton's dive conference.  He was really excited about it, and nervous about it.  He was excited about it because he loves diving and bigger meets are always fun.  He was nervous about it because he was doing a double.  He has just learned this dive and has only competed it once.  Last year he had a failed dive and received zero points.  (He was supposed to do a front flip full twist and he did a front flip one and a half twist.)  He DID NOT want that to happen again! Stockton also hasn't been able to practice for a week.  That is huge in diving!  Last Friday and Saturday the kids could come here to practice on the boards, but you can only practice when your coach is there.  Our coach wasn't able to come.  He has a training meeting in California for his real job.  Anyway, it has been a long time since he was able to practice, so I was hoping he would be okay.

Stockton ended up doing great!  He placed 3rd and scored 113.4.  2nd place scored 114, so it was close!  Everyone came to watch.  Stockton liked that.  He kept saying this was just like his olympics.

Mike and I did not do a good job getting pictures of his dives.  Mike got to the swimming pool with the other kids right after the meet started. Luckily Stockton hadn't dove yet.  (They started early because you could see nasty clouds in the distance.)  Anyway, I grabbed the camera but wasn't able to adjust it to quick mode.  This is the picture I got of his one and a half.  He did so good!  I wish I was able to be a little quicker with the camera.  He even got one seven on this dive!
Stockton - one and a half
This is Stockton's double.  He was so glad to get this dive over with!  He had a messy landing, but he completed it and was able to get a score! That was his goal!  I'm proud of him with being willing to do a hard dive that he wasn't super comfortable with.  One day this dive will probably be super easy....only if he is willing to go through the learning curve!

 Stockton's splash
 Stockton - reverse
Now look at that splash!  Awesome!
For some reason our camera got switched back to the regular mode, so this is the only picture we have of his last dive.  He did great again.
Stockton - inward
 Final standings.

 Top 4
Stockton said, "Maybe next year I'll take first!"  That would be awesome. He could do it if he worked hard all year.  Next year he moves up a level.
