Detroit

Mike, Maysen and I are leaving for Japan tomorrow!  My dad is going to stay here with the kids.  I can't believe how fast this trip snuck up on us.  Especially after wanting to go there for so long.  We were able to use frequent flyer miles to get the tickets.  Mike used some from our old American Express card and Maysen and I used the rewards from our Amazon card.  For some reason, Mike's flight to LAX wasn't valid on the same flight as ours.  We decided to fly separately to LAX and then we were able to get on the  same flight to Japan.  No big deal.

Today when Mike went to check in, there was a note that they had changed his flight.  Instead of leaving at 9:30 pm, they had him leaving at 3.  He then had to fly to Detroit, then fly to LAX.  It left him with under an hour to connect to our Japan flight.  There was a note saying that because of the change, he might miss his connecting flight.  What? When did this happen?  Mike called and was able to get it changed.  He is now on both our flights.  We don't get to sit next to him to Japan. When they changed his ticket, they changed his seat assignment.  He wasn't able to get it back.  Oh well, at least he isn't forced to fly to Michigan.  I am so thankful we checked in early!  How annoying would it have been to check in at the ticket counter only to find out that the flight left over five hours earlier!

Rachel sent us detailed instructions of how to get to her house.  Once we get to Japan, it looks like we need to take a couple of different skyrail/subway/buses to get to the train station where we can get on the bullet train to her house.  Mike keeps reading her 'pamphlet' and saying, "We're in trouble!"  Wish us luck!

It's easy peasy!! Just pretend its the Amazing Race. The only thing you really need to know is to ask questions to the workers when you need to be pointed in the right direction.

I just found out today that I'll be able to get Thursday and Friday off. Can't wait to see you guys.
