My Family Can Be Together Forever Through the Ordinances of the Temple

"Families can be together forever, through Heavenly Father's plan." These words are part of the chorus of one of the more known church songs. But what is Heavenly Father's plan? It's simple. Come to earth. Get a body. Live your life. Die and return to Heaven. Families can be together in the celestial kingdom. They can also be together on earth. Sealing your family is a good way to do that.

When we were in Utah visiting our cousins this summer, my family visited the opening of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. We visited many rooms, including the baptismal font, the sealing room, and the celestial room. The baptismal font was lovely. The water looked so clear. I could imagine being baptized for the dead in the water on the backs of the twelve oxen. The sealing room was also lovely. A rectangular pillar rose in the center of the room, for people to kneel beside. A mirror behind each person reflected everyone. You could almost see forever. The celestial room was my favorite. It was beautiful, and the spirit was strong. It's hard to describe, but I felt happy in that moment. I was sad to have to leave it. A temple is not just a beautiful building. It is the house of the Lord. Your body is a temple too. The temple of your spirit. D&C 88:119 says, "Organize yourselves, prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God." Amen.
